What Makes the Online Casino Gambler Tick?
That is exactly the question that researchers at Oxford University are hoping is
answered by a new research study that will look at UK online casino gamblers.
Researchers all over the world are interested in finding out more about gambling
habits and addictive gamblers and every few months more conclusions and
statistics are giving a look at the psychology of online casinos gamblers – and
like those the new research study will specifically "...build an empirically
anchored picture of the implications of various patterns of online gambling."
The online casino gambling study though performed through Oxford University is
funded by both the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and
Responsibility in Gambling Trust (RIGT). Both of these groups have a vested
interest in finding out the social impacts of online casino gambling as well as
motivations for online casinos gamblers and gambling patterns.
The new study is also very inclusive as the researchers have not chosen as
specific testing group and limited the research evidence to a cross section of
UK online casino gamblers. Instead internet gamblers can visit the research
page’s survey and take the twenty minutes to answer a questionnaire. And for
those worried about identification with survey answers, the Oxford University
research time has installed safe mechanisms so that online casinos gamblers do
not have to worry about being identified or traced – that way more internet
gambler respond if they know that the survey is completely anonymous.
In addition to the two groups funding the research study, other affiliated
online casino organizations have expressed both support and an interest in the
results of the study once published.
