A Toehold in the Industry

CryptoLogic has made it no secret that the online casino software development company is heavily focused on the Asian market. And now, CryptoLogic announced that it’s financially bound to a Chinese based casual internet gaming company, 568 Network Inc. Industry analysts all predict that the Asian market is the future of the online casinos industry, so for the top software development company to now have a in to the Chinese market is significant.

The focus on the Asian market has only become more prominent after the U.S. enacted the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Up to that point the online casino gambling industry in the U.S. supported a large percentage of the total internet gambling in the world. But once the U.S. withdrew from the online casinos market the top companies were forced to look at the potential in other markets as long-term plans to stay in business.

CryptoLogic is definitely not going anywhere soon though, and a major highlight to their new agreement with 568 centers on CryptoLogic’s ability to buy a controlling interest in 568 in future years. And once the online casino and casual gaming industry does in fact explode, CryptoLogic will have a step up on other companies and truly be “an e-gaming industry… leader in Asia,” a goal according to CryptoLogic CEO Javaid Aziz. Aziz also noted the anticipated surge in internet gaming activities, "The stakes are rising in Asia, which has a population of almost four billion, a deep-rooted gaming culture and a fast-growing rate of Internet adoption. CryptoLogic is already a player in Asia - and this investment strengthens our hand considerably for the years to come."

Specifics of the deal place the agreement at setting CryptoLogic back a mere $1.2 million – not too much considering the huge potential. And in the coming months and years CryptoLogic will its skill at developing top-notch online casino games to diverge and begin developing and distributing games aimed at 568’s current player base: skill and casual internet games.
