The Taiwanese government is not tolerating illegal online casino activities. And
though the latest gambling ring busted has operated for over two years, the
government is confident that it has a handle on eliminating criminal activity
related to internet gambling. The gambling ring busted last month operated out
of at least twelve locations and the police arrested ten affiliated with the
gambling ring. Taiwan’s Criminal Investigation’s Bureau was tipped off about the
online casinos gambling ring and the police raided the locations and made the
multiple arrests.
Of the ten arrested, a spokesperson for the CIP affirmed that they have the
illegal online casino gambling ring’s leader in custody. Lin Min-chi, the
ring-leader, and his nine accomplices are all charged with operating gambling
and organized crime.
The online casinos gambling ring was quite extensive, with multiple operating
Web sites offering internet gambling, and even an underground sports gambling
element. The spokesperson for the CIB also released information that preliminary
information from the gambling ring’s books show that the ring netted more than
US $3.08 million every month.
