Online Casino Gamblers Support Barney
Congressman Barney Frank that is…internet gamblers in Massachusetts are coming
out in droves to show their support for Frank who is running for reelection.
Frank is Chair of the House Financial Services Committee and also an avid
proponent for legalized online casino gambling in the United States. And while
there is certainly support for the Congressman outside of the internet industry,
the increased attention on his campaign certainly won’t hurt his campaigning
efforts in the state. Frank has a powerful position in Congress and although his
efforts to neutralize the UIGEA have not come to fruition yet, he is
consistently pushing new legislation and bills that support the online casino
gambling industry.
Not are online casino proponents likely to voice their support for Frank and
vote or his reelection, but they are also ponying up some funds to support his
campaign as well. According to an analysis on his campaign donations, internet
gambling supports account for roughly seven percent of his total donations since
2007. The outpouring of support is a direct result of his very vocal support of
online casino gambling and also the unique fact that Frank doesn’t even gamble.
His support for the industry is based solely on the fact that he believes that
the UIGEA unfairly restricts the rights of U.S. citizens.
The UIGEA is basically telling the online casino gamblers what they can do with
their money in their free-time and according to Frank oversteps a thin line.
Internet gambling can be implemented with limited repercussions and negative
effects if done well. Franks IGREA legislation counters the UIGEA and instead
pushes for a regulated and licensed online gambling industry that empowers the
individual state governments to make their own choice to legalize the activity.
And while passage of the IGREA is still a long way off, Frank is certainly
making strong steps in the right direction in regards to opening the internet
gambling industry. |
